Kopp: Thank you! I'm still in shock. It's an incredible honor to be recognized by such a prestigious award. I'm so grateful to the judges for seeing something special in my novel.

Kopp: I was inspired by my own experiences growing up with two sisters. We spent our summers at our family's lake house, and those summers were some of the most magical times of my life. I wanted to capture that magic in my novel.

The novel is beautifully written. What is your writing process like?

Kopp: I'm a very slow writer. I like to take my time and let the story develop naturally. I usually start by writing a scene that I have in my head, and then I see where the story takes me.

What was the most challenging part of writing "The Girls of Summer"?

Kopp: The most challenging part was writing about the sisters' relationships. I wanted to make sure that they were believable and relatable, and that readers would understand the複雑ities of their relationships.

What do you hope readers will take away from your novel?

Kopp: I hope that readers will be entertained by the story, but I also hope that they will be left thinking about the important things in life, like family, friendship, and love.

What's next for you? Are you working on any new projects?

Kopp: I'm currently working on a new novel. It's a different story from "The Girls of Summer," but it's still about the relationships between women. I'm excited to see where this new story takes me.
